Final request for items for the Centenary Exhibition...

In 2012 we shall be celebrating our centenary at St John’s Church in West Byfleet and many events will be taking place throughout the year.  One of these will be an exhibition running from April through to September that will reflect the life of our church during those hundred years...not just the buildings but the generations of people who worshipped here and shared happy times together.

We are asking if you have any photographs, memorabilia or memories of St John’s that you could share with us.

You could also help by letting us know of anyone else who may be able to
contribute.  We do not need to keep your precious photographs.  They can be scanned and returned to you.

We are particularly interested in exhibits relating to the following:-

•••• The “Tin Tabernacle”, the church-build and anything relating to its history

•••• The clergy, choir and any groups that met in the church or hall - Women’s Institute, Mother’s Union etc.

•••• Weddings, baptisms and confirmations

•••• Festivals, Parish Day, fetes, fairs, and fun days

•••• The kneelers.  We aim to identify the maker of each kneeler

•••• The War Years at St John’s

•••• Children and teens

•••• St John’s in the News - press cuttings

•••• Personal memories

Do not be put off if your exhibit does not fit into any of the above categories.  They are just ideas at this stage.
